Hi there 👋, my name is Bohdan - I’m the founder and person behind Fomr.io form builder.
I’m a software engineer with over a decade of experience in the web development industry. I’ve been in various senior engineering roles at companies like Careem (acquired by Uber), contributing to Open Source projects like webpack, building B2B SaaS as a Founding Engineer at YC-backed startup.
It was during my time at the startup when we faced a problem of collecting all sorts of data from our customers. Trying to go Zero-to-One, we needed a way to create forms quickly and easily, and dedicate our engineering efforts launching new features instead. While there are more than plenty of solutions out there - it was quite challenging for us to land on something that’d hit the sweet spot.
That’s when the idea of Fomr.io was born.
Why create another form builder?
Good question! There are many form builders out there, and some of them are fantastic.
If I were to try and categorize existing solutions on the market, I’d do it this way:
- Old and slow - usually from established brands to whom form builders’ business is not the main source of revenue or some companies that have been on a market for decades. They cannot move fast and usually rely on some old technology, making UX not so great, and affecting both conversions and editor experience.
- Bloated and pricey - some form builders are trying to do everything, and as a result, they are hard to use and expensive. They allow good customization options, but to navigate through all the features you need to have a Ph.D. in form building.
- New and shiny - some form builders are new and shiny, but they are usually lacking some essential features, or they are not reliable enough. Usually focused on a specific niche, these solutions fall short the moment you need something extra.
- Google Forms - in a league of its own. Bulletproof, reliable, and free. But it’s not customizable enough, and let’s be honest it just doesn’t look nice.
- Modern and user-friendly - these are usually some good solutions, and they’ll be our main competitors :)
At the startup I mentioned earlier, we went through sweat and tears, trying to find the right solution, eventually landing on one of the builders from the last category.
However, I still believe that there’s a gap in the market for a form builder that would be:
- Easy to use - the smoothest editor experience you can get.
- Fast - launching a form should be a matter of minutes.
- Flexible and simple - you should be able to make your form look and behave exactly how you want, without fighting with the editor.
- Reliable and secure - use our cloud for data collection or send the submission directly to your database or spreadsheet.
- Integrates seamlessly with the tools and services used by your business.
- Affordable - generous free tier (forever) and reasonable pricing for more demanding customers.
My main goal with Fomr.io is to create a form builder that would be a default go-to solution for startups, small and big businesses, marketing agencies, students, scientists, and individuals. It should be the easiest, most secure, and most reliable way of collecting data on the Internet, without compromises.
