Link preview and SEO

Control how your forms appear when shared on social media and in search engine results. Link preview and SEO settings let you customize the title, description, and image that appear when your form is shared.

To configure link preview and SEO settings:

  1. Open your form in the editor

  2. Click the Settings tab in the right sidebar

  3. Find the SEO section

  4. Configure your preferences

When someone shares your form link on social media, messaging apps, or other platforms, a preview card is generated. These settings control what appears in that preview.

The page title appears as the main headline in link previews and as the browser tab title.

Best practices for titles:

  • Keep it under 60 characters for full display
  • Make it descriptive and action-oriented
  • Include your brand name if relevant
  • Avoid generic titles like “Form” or “Survey”

Examples:

  • “Customer Feedback Survey - Acme Inc”
  • “Join Our Newsletter”
  • “2024 Conference Registration”

The meta description provides additional context below the title in link previews and search results.

Best practices for descriptions:

  • Keep it between 120-160 characters
  • Summarize what the form is about
  • Include a call to action
  • Make it compelling to encourage clicks

Examples:

  • “Share your thoughts and help us improve our products. Takes only 2 minutes to complete.”
  • “Register now for our annual conference. Early bird pricing available until March 15th.”

The favicon is the small icon that appears in browser tabs and bookmarks. Upload a custom icon to reinforce your brand.

Favicon options:

  • Upload: Upload an image file (ICO, PNG, or SVG recommended)
  • URL: Enter a direct URL to your favicon

Specifications:

  • Recommended size: 32x32 pixels or 16x16 pixels
  • Supported formats: ICO, PNG, SVG, GIF
  • Keep the design simple for clarity at small sizes

The Open Graph (OG) image is the large preview image shown when your form is shared on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

Image specifications:

  • Recommended size: 1200x630 pixels
  • Minimum size: 600x315 pixels
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP
  • Maximum file size: 5MB

Best practices:

  • Use high-quality, relevant images
  • Include text overlay with your form title or call to action
  • Ensure important content isn’t cropped on different platforms
  • Test how the image appears on various social networks

Upload options:

  • Upload: Select an image from your computer
  • URL: Enter a direct URL to your image

Control how search engines index and display your form.

Toggle whether search engines should index your form page. When enabled, your form may appear in search results.

When to enable indexing:

  • Public forms you want people to find via search
  • Landing pages for ongoing campaigns
  • Forms that serve as permanent resources

When to disable indexing:

  • Private or internal forms
  • Temporary or time-limited forms
  • Forms with sensitive content
  • Forms shared only via direct link

After configuring your SEO settings, test how your form appears when shared:

Use Facebook’s Sharing Debugger to see how your form will appear on Facebook and to clear any cached previews.

Use Twitter’s Card Validator to preview how your form will appear when shared on Twitter/X.

Use LinkedIn’s Post Inspector to check your form’s appearance on LinkedIn.

Be consistent with your brand. Use colors, imagery, and messaging that align with your overall brand identity.

Optimize for each platform. While you can’t customize for each platform individually, choose settings that work well across all of them.

Update for campaigns. For time-sensitive forms, update the title and description to reflect current campaigns or deadlines.

Use compelling imagery. A strong Open Graph image can significantly increase click-through rates when your form is shared.

Test before sharing. Always test your link previews before launching a major campaign to ensure everything looks correct.

Keep descriptions current. Update meta descriptions if your form’s purpose or deadline changes.

Social platforms cache link previews. To see updated previews:

  1. Use the platform’s debugging tool to clear the cache
  2. Wait a few minutes and try sharing again
  3. Some platforms may take up to 24 hours to refresh
  • Verify the image URL is publicly accessible
  • Check that the image meets size requirements
  • Ensure the image format is supported
  • Test with a different image to rule out file issues
  • Shorten your title to under 60 characters
  • Keep descriptions between 120-160 characters
  • Test on the specific platform to see exact limits
  • Verify search engine indexing is enabled
  • Allow time for search engines to crawl (can take days or weeks)
  • Ensure your form is published and publicly accessible
  • Check that your form URL isn’t blocked by robots.txt
