The NPS component asks the classic Net Promoter Score question — “How likely are you to recommend us?” — on the standard 0-10 scale. The scale is fixed on purpose: every NPS question uses the same range, so your scores follow the NPS standard and stay comparable across forms and over time.

When to use NPS
Section titled “When to use NPS”NPS is the right component whenever you measure likelihood to recommend:
- “How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or colleague?”
- Post-purchase and post-support NPS surveys
- Relationship NPS check-ins with customers or employees
How NPS scoring works
Section titled “How NPS scoring works”Every answer falls into one of three fixed buckets:
| Bucket | Scores | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Detractors | 0-6 | Unhappy respondents who may discourage others |
| Passives | 7-8 | Satisfied but unenthusiastic respondents |
| Promoters | 9-10 | Loyal enthusiasts who will recommend you |
Your Net Promoter Score is the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors, giving a score from -100 to 100. The bucket boundaries are part of the NPS standard, so they are not configurable.
Adding an NPS component
Section titled “Adding an NPS component”-
Open your form in the editor
-
Drag the NPS component from the left sidebar onto your form
-
Click the component to select it and configure its settings
Configuration options
Section titled “Configuration options”Question label
Section titled “Question label”The main question or prompt displayed above the scale.
Examples:
- “How likely are you to recommend us to a friend or colleague?”
- “How likely are you to recommend this event to a coworker?”
Supporting content
Section titled “Supporting content”Add helper text, an example image, or a divider between the question’s title and its input: drag a Text, Image, or Divider component onto the question and drop it on the line that appears under the title. Supporting text comes with full formatting and answer piping. Learn more in Supporting content.
Default value
Section titled “Default value”Prefill the question with a score from 0 to 10 so respondents can confirm it or change it. See Default values for how prefilled answers behave.
Display
Section titled “Display”Choose how the eleven answer cells look:
| Display | Description |
|---|---|
| Numbers | Each cell shows its score, 0 through 10 (default) |
| Smileys | Each cell shows its bucket’s face — sad for 0-6, neutral for 7-8, happy for 9-10 — with the score in small text beneath |

Smileys change only the look: respondents still pick one of eleven exact scores, and the picked number is what gets stored.
Reverse order
Section titled “Reverse order”Turn on Reverse order to display the scale from 10 down to 0. Reversing is purely visual — the score a respondent picks is exactly what gets stored, and the colors, faces, and legend stay attached to their scores.
Colors
Section titled “Colors”Turn on Colors to tint the scale by bucket: red for 0-6, yellow for 7-8, and green for 9-10. The selected cell is highlighted in its bucket color, giving respondents visual guidance about the answer zones. With Colors off, the scale uses your form theme’s colors.
Bucket legend
Section titled “Bucket legend”Turn on Bucket legend to show a filled bar beneath each score group, labeled “Detractors”, “Passives”, or “Promoters” by default. Each bar aligns with the scores it describes.
The three names are editable directly on the canvas: click a name and type to soften or translate the wording for your audience (for example “Critics”, “Neutrals”, “Fans”). Clearing a name restores its default. When Colors is also on, the bars use the matching red, amber, and green bucket colors.

Required
Section titled “Required”Toggle whether a score must be picked before the form can be submitted. Required is on by default for new NPS questions.
When enabled:
- An asterisk (*) appears next to the question label
- Users must select a score to submit
- A validation message appears if no selection is made
NPS interaction
Section titled “NPS interaction”- All eleven scores are displayed in one row whenever they fit; on small screens the cells shrink before wrapping
- Click any cell to select it — in both displays, the selected score is highlighted
- On a page of its own, an NPS question works with auto-jump: the form advances as soon as the respondent picks a score

Section titled “NPS vs. other components”| Component | Best For |
|---|---|
| NPS | Net Promoter Score on the standard 0-10 scale |
| Linear Scale | Numeric ratings on a custom range |

Handling responses
Section titled “Handling responses”NPS responses in your form results:
- Show the numeric score (0-10) regardless of display, reverse, or color settings
- Are included in exports and Google Sheets workflows as numbers
- Can be reused in later questions with answer piping
- Allow you to calculate your Net Promoter Score: % promoters (9-10) minus % detractors (0-6)
